COVID-19 Policy for In-Person Programming

The COVID-19 safety policies for Homewood Science Center's in person programs follow the requirements from IDPH and the CDC. If at any time you would like to notify the club about questions, concerns, or issues with compliance to these policies, please send e-mail to info@homewoodsciencecenter.org.

Homewood Science Center's Responsibilities

In order to ensure safe learning and play, HSC will:

  • Post information about the symptoms of COVID-19 in order to allow participants and parents to self-assess whether they have any symptoms.

  • Require symptom checks for participants before all programs.

  • Maintain attendance logs of participants and volunteers for contact tracing purposes.

  • Ensure that each program facilitator provides sanitization supplies for cleaning equipment, students' hands and high touch areas.

  • Provide a way to contact the HSC if a participant has COVID-19 symptoms, or a positive COVID-19 test result - via e-mail to info@homewoodsciencecenter.org.

  • Encourage individuals to contact their health care provider if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

  • If multiple individuals report having any COVID-19 related symptoms, notify the local health department within three days of being informed of the presence of COVID-19 symptoms.

  • If multiple individuals test positive for COVID-19, notify the local health department within one day of positive test results.

  • Notify individuals who may have been exposed.

  • Pause classes for those participants that have tested positive or have had close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 for a minimum of 14 days.

  • Clean and disinfect equipment that may have come into contact with a participant who has tested positive or has symptoms of COVID-19.

Participant Responsibilities

  1. All participants must wear a face covering that fully covers their nose and mouth and fits snugly against the sides of the face with no gaps, whether indoors or outdoors, unless a medical condition prohibits the participant from wearing a face covering.  A physician note for individuals who have a medical contraindication to wearing a face covering is required.

  2. Participants should wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before participating and, when practical, during programs.

  3. Participants should bring their own source of water and refrain from using any communal sources of hydration.

  4. Participants must maintain at least 6 feet social distance. HSC will adjust seating arrangements to meet this requirement.
