The engineering design process is fun, especially when roller coasters are involved! Choose a date for when you would like to conduct your in-school field trip with an HSC STAFF member*. The HSC Staff Member will bring the Exploring Engineering Box the day of your selected scheduled field-trip date and the digital asset will be emailed to you. The box of materials is for 1 classroom, 30 students max. If you are booking for multiple classrooms, please book multiple field trips. This HSC STAFF in-school field trip will be conducted at the time indicated in the schedule and should take 90 minutes to complete. If you need to request a different time, please email email@example.com prior to booking for assistance. If you would prefer this in-school field trip be facilitated by a teacher in your school, please go back and choose TEACHER-LED. • Engaging digital presentation** to show students • Learn the history of Homewood’s John Miller, a roller coaster inventor in the 1900’s • Hear about the engineering design process from real engineers in our community • Create a roller coaster hill using recycled materials *All HSC Staff members have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and can provide that documentation if your school requires it for entry. **A smart board type devise with internet access is needed to conduct this activity. Please make sure your classroom is equipped with this technology. Students will work at their desks during the facilitation portion of the activity and then move to the floor to build roller coaster prototypes. Homewood Science Center provides the audio visual presentation and building materials.
Cancellations or requests to reschedule in-school field trips with HSC Staff members must be made with in 24 hours of the booked date.
